How to blur a HubSpot screenshot
Contacts, deal amounts, and email timelines in HubSpot. Bar the PII before the playbook or partner deck.

Sharing a HubSpot screenshot in a playbook, a partner deck, or a support thread? Contact cards, deal amounts, and the email timeline are the product — and they are also the leak. Cover the people and dollars that are not the lesson in Paint, Preview, or a browser tab — then send that copy, not a live CRM tab from Downloads.
How to blur a HubSpot screenshot (step by step)
Crop the left nav and the global search first. Recent Contacts and open deal cards often sit in chrome you forget to check.
On your phone or computer
Windows: Win + Shift + S → Paint. Filled black rectangles over Contact emails, deal amounts, and timeline previews.
Mac: Preview → Markup with a filled shape over the same fields. Skip translucent highlighters on phone numbers.
Opaque bars beat soft blur on short CRM strings — emails and dollar amounts keep their shape under a light smear.
Or finish in a browser (optional)
Want to do it in a tab with no install? BlurThis is one free option. The file stays on your device. Other browser tools work too if they paint on the page and do not upload the image.
- Open the editor in your browser. No account needed for BlurThis.
- Drop the screenshot, tap Upload from PC or Mobile, or paste with Ctrl / ⌘ + V on a computer.
- Pick Box or Draw. Use Black bar for phone numbers, emails, and OTPs. Use Blur for faces when a soft cover is enough.
- Drag over each private spot. Pinch or use + / − to zoom. Leave a little padding so no letter peeks out.
- Tap Download PNG. Send that file. Keep the original out of the chat or ticket.
What to cover in the HubSpot chrome
- Contact and Company properties: name, email, phone, and lifecycle stage next to a real person.
- Deal amount, close date, and pipeline stage on the deal card.
- Email and call timeline previews that reprint subject lines and phone numbers.
- Associated records: other Contacts, open tickets, and meeting notes.
- Sequences and enrollment lists that name a whole cohort.
- Browser URL and portal ID if the snip leaves your company.
Crop to the one panel that shows the workflow bug. You skip the associations column and the activity stream. If the lesson needs the full record, bar every email and amount that is not the teaching point.
Black bar for deal amounts and contact fields
Deal amounts, phone numbers, and zip codes are short digit strings. Soft blur and mosaic fail on those. Use Black bar over Amount, phone, mobile, and any tax or account ID property. Email addresses get the same bar when the audience is outside your portal.
Marker tools on a Mac preview are a tint, not a cover. Prefer an opaque bar baked into a PNG before the file hits Slack or a partner Drive. Digits and why bars beat blur are covered in blur vs black bar.
Inbox, sequences, and lists
A Conversations inbox screenshot is a directory of customer threads. Crop to one thread or bar every other row. Sequence enrollment tables leak company names and personal emails in one viewport — if the point is a UI label, crop until the table is gone.
Support teams often paste HubSpot into Slack next to a ticket. Cover workspace chrome the same way you would for any CRM paste — see blur a Slack screenshot and redact a customer support screenshot.
FAQ: Do I cover company logos on the record?
Internal training: optional. Public marketing post or vendor ticket: yes, if the logo identifies a customer who did not agree to be the example.
FAQ: What about HubSpot’s own anonymized demo portal?
Demo data is safer, but people still snip production by accident. Glance at the portal name in the URL before you capture.
FAQ: Can I crop the right sidebar and skip bars?
Yes, when the remaining pixels still prove the point. Watch the associations strip and sticky header — emails survive a sloppy crop.
FAQ: Free CRM vs Sales Hub?
The chrome differs; the leak does not. Contacts, deals, and email previews are still the fields to bar.
