Pixelation screams “this was hidden on purpose,” which is what you want for card digits, serial numbers, or a license plate in dashcam footage. The question is whether the pixel tool uploads your clip. For sensitive video, keep processing on the device.
Pixelate video online without uploading
Open BlurThis, Video tab, add your file. In the sidebar choose Pixelate instead of Blur. Place the box, mark Blur In and Blur Out on the timeline, export. No account, no server queue. Closing the tab drops the file from memory.
When to pixelate instead of blur
- Digits and codes — blur can leave faint structure; pixel blocks read as gone.
- Legal or policy redaction — obvious censorship is a feature.
- Small text in a screen recording — pixelate at high strength with padding.
Soft blur still wins for faces in casual social posts where a natural look matters. You can switch type per export before download.
Verify before you send
Scrub the exported file frame by frame at the edges of the box. A one-frame leak in a screen recording is enough to expose an API key. Add overlap between Blur In and motion if the UI scrolls.
